I heard from Rebecca Germany on a Christmas anthology proposal that three other authors and I submitted almost a year ago. It's a yes!!

Christmas Homecoming will be released December, 2009. Working titles are, "Silver Bells," by Debby Mayne, "The First Noelle," by Paige Winship Dooly, "I'll be Home for Christmas," by Elizabeth Ludwig, and "O Christmas Tree," by Elizabeth Goddard.
.
Collection Blurb: After being scattered by jobs and missions, the Scheirer family comes together to witness their grandmother's wedding to a long-time family friend. Noelle, Christmas, and Holly return to their hometown of Boulder, Colorado, where they find love and happiness in their own backyard. As they get back to their roots, they find comfort in the fact that the Lord's plan for them is greater than anything they could ever have imagined.

It's definitely an exciting time for me!

Sometimes, the weekend just can't come soon enough. In this case, it was because I was looking forward to attending the Texas Christian Writer's Conference in Houston. I had no idea what else God had in store.

Along with interesting workshops, a booksigning, and conference bookstore, IWA presented cash awards to published and unpublished authors alike for categories such as Poetry, Book Proposals, and Devotionals. Like everyone else, I was enjoying witnessing the winners. Imagine my surprise when the last category, IWA Writer of the Year was announced, and my name was called! It was quite an honor, and I felt compelled to share a scripture God gave to me the day I first knew I'd been called to write:

2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “ Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Hab. 2:2-3

It was almost six years ago that I first received this scripture. Yes, the vision tarried, but in the end, it surely came! When I hold my book in my hand, I hold the fulfillment of a promise God gave me. To be honored by IWA was adding blessing to blessing! Thank you, IWA.

Oh, what fun!

Janelle Mowery and I attended our first booksigning for our cozy mystery, Where the Truth Lies. Along with thirty-eight other authors, we welcomed nearly a hundred fans of Christian fiction to WoodsEdge Community Church in The Woodlands. The event was organized by Linda Kozar and crew. They did a fantastic job and I was honored to be a part of it!
